Belly Dance Classes

Welcome to Dance with Kirsten, classes designed to immerse students into the joyful world of belly dance. The classes are ongoing and offered in four week sessions covering all the basics of belly dance, props, musicality and developing your own unique dance style.

Traditional Dances of the Near East and Mediterranean

Experience the joy of folk dance. Every week we learn new line and circle dances and review and build upon dances already learned. Students will also learn musicality and how to count and dance to various rhythms such as 9/8, 7/8 and 7/16. Not only will you learn new many new things, but you will also have a really fun workout. This class will be offered through Yavapai College Community Ed in Fall of 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to the classes?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Bare feet or soft dance slippers are recommended for belly dance. For folk dance, wear split sole dance sneakers or similar.

Do you offer performance opportunities?

The best place to perform is surrounded by the company of friends in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. I organize haflas (dance parties) every two months as a no stress way to practice dancing in front of an audience.

The Arizona belly dance community hosts many different dance events and festivals throughout the state.
